Sometimes the components in between the crucial parts that make your dream ride go fast are the ones that make it or break it. Take for example the Boost Tubes that live between the Turbocharger, Intercooler, and engine in your FL5 Civic Type R or DE5 Integra Type S. There’s two of them. One between the turbo and intercooler and on other side of the Intercooler there is a second Boost Tube that connects the cold side of the Intercooler to your hard side charge pipe and runs up into the intake manifold, but not before making a hard 90-degree bend. AND! It’s at this bend where we find the third part of this kit at the Throttle Body connection. We call this last piece simply the Throttle Body coupler or TB coupler for short.
Ok, now that you got all of that….you want to ditch the stock factory EPDM aka rubber that these components are made from. Why? It’s too soft and flexible. Over repeated heat cycles it also breaks down and gets even softer. Then, under high boost, it expands. Expansion means more lag. Less boost pressure goes where it needs to go and more gets absorbed and lost in the system.
So, what we’ve created is the 27WON upgrade kit you see here consisting of:

We looked at the big picture here and so what we’ve done is not just provide upgraded hoses in and out of the Intercooler, but also the crucial Throttle Body Coupler that’s known to be a common factory failure point inducing boost leaks and leaving you chasing CELs.
Then we said, “hey let’s go a step above and also ditch those cheesy factory clamps” and so we’ve rounded out this kit with nice sturdy stainless-steel t-bolt clamps that really seal the deal for a professional look.

High-performance automotive applications often use Silicone instead of rubber for hose, couplers, or similar products in the engine bay because silicone is frankly BETTER!
Rubber is very cheap to produce but lacks qualities that should be sought after in a high-performance vehicle. The moment rubber is produced it begins to decay or deteriorate. This process of decay is exaggerated in a high temperature and pressure application as well by UV light radiation. Silicone is not affected by UV radiation nor as much by the extreme temperatures found in the engine bay like the hot air coming out of the turbo that is usually above 300 degrees F. Silicone also lasts about 4 times longer in similar conditions.
The 27WON TYPE R Boost Tubes are constructed of 5-ply reinforced silicone, but this wasn’t enough for us. We then added reinforcement in the form of wire that is integrated into the silicone. This increases strength of the piping while still allowing for proper flex and bending for engine movement. After all, when the car sees 20 or more PSI of boost time and time again, you want to know these tubes won’t yield under pressure.
Perfect fitment the first time. Simple remove the factory boost tubes and throttle body connection, then reinstall your upgraded Silicone hoses and secure using the provided clamps in under one hour.
