Description

Stopping power in your Honda Civic and Acura Integra – whether you’re driving a Si, Integra, Type R/S or Hybrid is dictated by a handful of parts, mainly your brake rotors and pads. When you apply pressure to your brake pedal, hydraulic fluid is forced into your brake caliper that then acts to squeeze the set of brake pads against the rolling brake rotors. But what happens if you want better stopping power? The first agenda is finding a better brake pad!

Choosing a brake pad is a balancing act. On one extreme you have OEM brake pads. They do the job fine for daily driving duty and last a good bit of time while giving off little dust. They’re based on a Ceramic compound. On the other extreme, you have a full Race brake pad. These are not good for the daily driver but they shine when you blast the race track. What if you want something in the middle with more performance that you can use every day? That’s where our 27WON Performance Pads come in.

You get a set of pads that deliver consistent stopping distances when the stock brake pads would often begin to fade. You get better modulation and bite that creates predictable and linear stops every time. What you don’t get is brake noise or dust covered wheels like a Race pad delivers. And Type R and Type S owners can get that same 27WON friction compound in a pad designed specifically to drop into the factory Brembo front calipers found on the FK8, FL5, and DE5. Got your attention? Then read on to learn about the new 27WON performance brake pads specifically made for a simple swap from your OE pads.

Brake pads construction isn't that complicated. Three things make up pads….Backing Plates, Friction Compounds, and Shims. Friction compounds are the most nuanced and are the biggest driving factor when talking about a pads ability to deliver stopping power. Without getting into the weeds and for best practices sake, you want to match your friction compound for your intended use and figure out the trade-offs involved in a way suited to your specific case.

For performance pads, metallic and semi-metallic compounds used to be the norm. They had excellent stopping power but also tended to be harsher on rotor life and they gave off lots of dust and noise. Then, ceramic compounds came onto the scene. They eliminated most of the dust, were more rotor friendly and almost silent. But these gave up some performance. Now, hybrid ceramic/metallic compounds have entered the chat and that’s what’s used in the 27WON pads. It’s the best of both worlds without any of the drawbacks…almost a perfect middle ground if you ask us.

When we set out to develop the ultimate Street and light duty track pad you see here, it was important that we didn’t lose any of the characteristics that make the OEM Honda pads good for a daily and only build upon these positives. This meant choosing a hybrid ceramic/metallic compound we touched upon above. This compound has a very wide average coefficient of friction rating of (Mu) 0.4-0.5 with an average effective operating range of ambient – 600C.

This means that when your pads are cold they start with a strong rating which means a good initial bite Here’s where that upper number matters because at 0.5 Mu, the bite actually gets stronger once the brake pads heat up. That’s the ideal overall setup!

This compound we keep mentioning is also easy on your OEM rotors. One drawback with high friction brake pads typically is they wear out your rotor faster. Usually, you can see that when the rotor develops a lip right at the edge where the pad ends.

Because we employ a ceramic component in this pad, these pads are easier on the rotor giving it more life. It's still recommended to replace your rotors with every brake pad swap as it’s a good insurance policy to keep things well sorted. But if you’re on a budget then resurfacing your rotors is another option.

Honda and Acura use several different front brake packages across the 10th Gen Civic Si, 11th Gen Civic, and 5th Gen Integra platforms, so one front brake pad doesn't fit them all. That's why 27WON offers vehicle-specific front pad designs for the 10th Gen Civic, newer 11th Gen Civic/Integra applications, the Civic Hybrid, and now the factory Brembo-equipped Civic Type R and Integra Type S. For FK8, FL5, and DE5 owners, the newest version uses the same 27WON hybrid ceramic/metallic friction compound you see throughout this page, but with a backing plate and pad geometry designed specifically for the OEM Brembo front caliper.

For the rears, the caliper and pad size is shared across multiple models so this makes things a bit easier. One size fits all so to speak. We have bases covered all the way from the Type R 2.0T applications down through the 1.5T equipped L15 models and even the K20 NA 2.0 models.

The Type R and Type S already leave the factory with solid braking hardware, so we're not trying to reinvent what's already there. Instead, we focused on one of the easiest ways to change how that system performs: the friction material in the brake pad.

Our FK8/FL5/DE5 front pad option drops directly into the factory Brembo caliper while bringing the same street and light-track-focused compound used throughout the 27WON Performance Pad lineup. Expect stronger bite, predictable modulation, improved resistance to fade, and performance that remains daily-driver friendly.

We always want to make sure every part we offer drops in and works the way the original part you removed did. So, these 27WON pads slip right in with no modifications required. Included in every set is a handy step by step guide with colored pictures so you have the confidence to install these yourself. Our pads even keep the OE style wear indicators so you know exactly when the time is right to swap out to a fresh set once yours wears down.

Reviews

Installed these pads on all four corners of my ’22 SI about 2-1/2 weeks ago. My commute is 210 miles per day (x4 day/week), so I’ve got close to 2k miles on them so far. Just building this car to be a fun daily driver, but I noted a big improvement in stopping distance when I encounter the random wildlife that unexpectedly crosses the roadway in the early mornings (happens often). I have more confidence now because of the consistent feel these new pads have over OEM. As usual, 27WON also gets 5 stars for the super detailed installation instructions! I know they are just pads (which I’ve replaced dozens of times on different cars), but never with the electronic rear parking brake. The provided instructions made understanding manually putting the rear brakes into service mode easy. Keep putting out great new products for our 11th Gen. Civics and we’ll keep coming back!!
Amazing oem plus pads! I have them on my daily and they feel great. Lots of bite when you need it and make the brake pedal feel better.

I’ve been pretty hard on them for it being my daily, but they still feel the same as day one. Never had issues with heat fade.

Would highly recommend these for an upgrade from oem.
these are amazing pads for daily driving and Autocross.

I've taken these pads on long drive around town, across state line, and to Autocross. They stand up extremely well no matter what you throw at them, and they feel exactly the same as the OEM pads on daily driving. When you take them on to the track at autocross they hold up extremely well and give a lot of confidence. They bite hard and handle the heat extremely well, even on a hot day I never had an issue with the brakes getting too hot and losing bite.

Overall a fantastic set of pads, and I would recommend this to anyone who dailys their Autocross car
