Description

Under heavy braking the brake master cylinder and firewall on your Honda Civic can flex.

The pressure from your foot pressing hard on the brake pedal can lead to some uninspiring feedback and reduce your confidence when diving hard into a corner on the track or in an emergency braking situation where you need to come to stop as quickly as possible.

The 27WON FSTB Brake Brace is designed to eliminate the flexing and movement of your brake master cylinder and help decrease the time for brake pad engagement. Get a proper track like feel and some extra confidence into your Civic braking system.

What is a master cylinder Brake Brace and what does it do?

The master cylinder on your car is a cast metal piece with a reservoir on top full of brake fluid. Its purpose is to take the fluid from its reservoir and send that fluid/pressure to the 4 corners of your car to act on the brake calipers and help slow down the car. This master cylinder has a mechanical link to your brake pedal and receives the pressure you generate when you step on the pedal.

Sadly the master cylinder is attached to your firewall (a very thin section of metal the separates the driver from the engine bay) and it has a tendency to flex and move a lot when you are hard on your pedal. This can result in a delay in pad engagement and poor driver feedback.

Our Brake Brace attaches to your 27WON FSTB bar with two simple bolts and acts as a hard stop for the master cylinder. This gives a counter force to the cylinder and eliminates flex from the firewall. With the brace installed, some of the energy that went to flexing the firewall now helps increase brake engagement and driver feedback.

It won't change your life, but this definitely makes the first press of the brake feel more solid. Made me more confident on light braking. Check out the video from 27won on its installation and Chris Lowpes youtube video on it.

Tip is to not make the brace too long or else it'll be too tight against the cylinder. Super easy to install and I'm a total rookie to cars
Excellent piece to go with an already great product! (27Won Front Strut Tower Bar)

Braking feels so much better! What a great and simple idea to add this to the front strut tower bar! Also looks great in the engine bay just like every 27Won product.
Tolerances on FTSB bracket were tight and I had to tap the bolt closet to the firewall in. Tight is good. Final adjustment was a pain. Tough to get a standard 10mm open end wrench in there with the coolant hoses. Someone else mentioned a short wrench so I'll try to get one to get the brace tighter gains the cylinder. Otherwise, instructions were very clear. I'm glad I didn't drop nuts or bolts into the engine bay. Braking feels improved.
I have to echo the previous reviews. The brake brace was not in stock when I ordered the strut brace and I installed a few weeks later. With my size hands there was zero way I could get in there and tighten the part that fits against the master cylinder. It’s tiny and outside of my hands I had no tool that small. YMMV but I had to fiddle with fitment off and on the strut brace to ensure it was properly tight and applied the desired tension. Super simple install but a pain to execute.

Otherwise these guys clearly know how to fabricate. High quality part and performs well within its intended use.
I was surprised how much of a difference this brace made. The car feels SO much more stable under heavy braking. There is almost zero peddle oscillation, and you can more easily feel what the car is doing while you're stomping on the brakes. Absolutely worth the money, a very noticeable improvement.

It can be a bit of a pain to install, it's tight back there. I highly recommend a short 10mm wrench. Once I had smaller tools I had no issues tightening everything down.
Got this after purchasing the strut bar first! Fits fantastic (although be careful if you drop the nut, it might land on the pan and you'll have to jack the car up to get it). Brake pedal feel is tighter and more consistent, exactly what I was looking for!
