Description
You didn’t think we would let those other guys have all the fun pushing the same old intake system designs year after year, did ya! Nope, and here’s exactly what you’ve been waiting for FL5/DE5, our all-new Hybrid Intake System specifically designed for the 2.0T K20 engine found in the newest 2023+ Type R and 2024+ Type S Integra.
What’s so Hybrid about it might be your first question!? Our Hybrid system designations go back almost a decade to our first intake systems for 10th Generation Civics. These systems have traditionally been the best of both worlds. What we mean is that they place the filter element up top where it’s easy to service and replace (like a traditional SRI), but also get the coolest air possible fed into the intake tract (like a CAI). What you get is cool IATs while also having an awesome sounding intake and a car full of turbo noises.
Ok, so now you know why they’re called Hybrid but what about all the other details of this kit? Well for that, you’ll have to watch the video below and read the details below as we fill you in on a system you won’t find anywhere else.

“This dang car is too quiet”. “Not enough induction noise”. “Not enough exhaust noise”. “This car is just too soft”. We hear the same comments all the time from the community. We’re convinced Honda left a lot of room for improvements on the table and with the introduction of our Hybrid Intake system, we fill yet another gap in the looks and sound department so you can pop the hood at your next meet and truly say, “yeah, this thing sounds mean”.
What you get with this complete Intake kit is a truly unique system utilizing a billet twist-n-lock MAF, large 4 inch dry-flow filter, an aluminum shroud (in 2 available colors) to keep engine bay temps at bay and all while taking an hour or less to install. Yeah, we made it hard to resist!

One of our main focuses in designing an Intake system is making sure we keep IATs or Intake Air Temps as low as we can. We’re going to be brutally honest here, your FMIC plays a bigger role in managing temps than any intake. But what we don’t want is an intake that increases IATs more than it needs to.
After many iterations, we’ve settled on a 3-sided shroud that keeps out most of the under-hood intake temps from heat soaking the intake tract. Why didn’t we use a fully enclosed airbox? It didn’t perform any better in lowering IATs especially when measuring post FMIC temps at the manifold. And a fully enclosed airbox is quiet. So, we decided against it. Why put out something that you won’t benefit from?

That shroud above that we mentioned comes in two choices of finish so you can dial in the exact look that you want. Our raw finish makes customization easy (paint it, coat it, or dip it) or you can just rock the bare aluminum look. For those that prefer a more sleek or low-key look, we also offer a choice of a textured black powder-coat finish that blends into the engine bay giving you that OEM+ look.

One thing that stands out above all else is this system delivers on the sound. With a fully enclosed airbox, you lose a lot of the induction noises and they get muffled and tone down. Not here. Just take a listen to the sound clips in the video above. That nice deep growl and induction noises are something that you will only find on this intake system. Whether you have a FL5 or DE5, this intake will make you grin every time you blast through the gears

While few others go all-in or reinvent, we dive in and take on new challenges. Enter our brand new never seen before twist-n-lock MAF. For one, we don’t use plastic here like other companies to cut corners and save costs. We feel like the Type R & Type S deserve better. So, our MAF is an all-billet aluminum design. But what’s really unique about it is it locks into the factory turbo inlet pipe connection without the need for any extra clamps. This reduces complexity and streamlines the installation process making it easier for you. It also allows for a larger filter to be used. That’s how you go above and beyond
Plus, these MAFs are sized just like OEM and don't require any re-calibration of the ECU so they are drop-in ready and go. Of course, if you want to get some custom tuning done alongside other supporting mods, then go for it.

One thing that really frustrated us with other intakes on the market is they mostly use the same flat pancake style filter. The reason is obvious; space is a limitation with the way the airbox is positioned really close to the vehicles ECU. But, with our twist-n-lock MAF and without an airbox, we had less limitation on the size of the filter. We place a nice large dry-flow filter here which pulls in air from 360 degrees without any restrictions. Couple that with the fact these filters don’t require any oil and maintenance becomes a breeze.

Not all shrouds are created equal. What we mean is that some shrouds are just glorified pieces of bling and don’t block heat which is their main purpose. After testing multiple iterations and designs, we settled on a 3-sided shroud crafted from 5052 aluminum. The 2.0T engine runs hot – really hot. So, keeping as much engine heat away from the intake is important.
By using a large shroud, we were able to keep IATs in line with the OE intake which is no small feat. Part of what makes this design work is the insulation along the top perimeter of the shroud which when shut, creates a nice seal with the hood and keeps the OEM ducting from just behind the grill working. Oh, and our Air Snorkel pairs extremely well with this intake system for even lower IATs.
