Hondata CANFlex Flex Fuel Kit for Honda Civic, Si, Civic Type R & Acura Integra (1.5T/2.0T)

Pump gas today. E85 tomorrow. Anything in between. That's the entire point of a real flex fuel system.

Fuel sold as E85 does not always contain exactly 85% ethanol and the actual ethanol content can change based on location, season and what's already in your tank. Rather than making you guess at the mixture, the CANFlex ethanol sensor measures the actual ethanol content of the fuel flowing through the system.

That information is sent to the ECU so your calibration can compensate accordingly. Fill up with regular pump gas, add ethanol, mix the two together and let the system know what's actually in the tank. No draining the tank. No calculating your blend at every fill-up. No manually switching between an E85 tune and a pump-gas tune.

Ethanol is about more than simply changing what comes out of the pump. Its higher effective octane and charge-cooling properties give a properly tuned turbocharged engine like our beloved L15 & K20 more room to safely make power.

How much power? That depends on your application. Hondata's testing has shown substantial gains even on otherwise stock vehicles:

• 10th Gen Civic Si 1.5T: up to approximately +50 HP
• 11th Gen Civic / Integra 1.5T: up to approximately +45 HP
• 2.0T Type R / Type S: approximately +28 HP on a stock fuel system
• 2.0T with Hondata Fuel System: gains can increase to approximately +70 HP depending on application and calibration

CANFlex can also help the turbo come into boost sooner and maintain a stronger, flatter torque curve instead of delivering one big torque hit followed by a rapid falloff.

Actual output will vary with vehicle, fuel composition, supporting modifications, calibration, operating conditions, and dyno type.

Older flex fuel solutions required sending an analog ethanol-content signal through an available ECU input. CANFlex takes a cleaner approach.

Hondata's E/B/CAN module reads the ethanol sensor and sends ethanol-content information to the ECU through the vehicle's CAN network. That means there is no cutting or splicing of the factory engine harness and no need to repurpose the ECT2 input for the ethanol signal.

Once the correct CANFlex calibration is loaded, the ECU can use ethanol content as part of its fueling, ignition, and boost strategy. The result is the kind of integration you'd expect from an engineered system rather than an add-on sensor simply bolted to the car.
